Terms of Use
Last updated: April 2026
By accessing or using Findr, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the platform. These terms govern all use of Findr's website, registry, and reporting tools.
1. What Findr Is
Findr is a civic technology platform that maintains a national registry of missing persons in Nigeria. It provides tools to file reports, search active cases, and submit information on open cases. Findr is not a law enforcement agency and does not have investigative powers.
2. Accuracy of Information
When you submit a missing person report, you confirm that:
- All information provided is accurate to the best of your knowledge
- You have the authority or relationship to file the report
- Any photographs submitted are of the person named in the report
- You have not knowingly omitted information that would affect the integrity of the case
Submitting false, misleading, or fraudulent reports is a violation of these terms and may constitute a criminal offence under Nigerian law.
3. Photographs and Personal Data
By submitting a photograph, you confirm you have the right to share it for the purposes of locating the individual. Findr will display approved photographs publicly as part of the missing persons registry.
You understand that once a case is published, the information may be shared, republished, or distributed by third parties, including media organisations and partner institutions, in the interest of locating the missing individual.
4. Platform Limitations
Findr is a registry and information platform. We do not guarantee that:
- Any case will result in the individual being found
- Tips submitted through the platform will be acted upon by authorities
- Information on the platform is free from error at all times
Findr operates in good faith to verify cases before publication, but verification does not constitute endorsement of all details submitted.
5. Prohibited Use
You may not use Findr to:
- File reports intended to harass, defame, or locate individuals against their will
- Submit false information or impersonate another person
- Scrape, copy, or republish registry data for commercial purposes
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to platform systems or other users' data
- Use the platform in any way that violates Nigerian law
Findr reserves the right to remove any content and suspend any account that violates these terms, without notice.
6. Case Removal
Findr may remove or archive a case if:
- The reporting party requests removal
- The case is determined to be false or fraudulent
- The individual has been found and the case resolved
- The information poses a risk to the safety of the individual or others
7. Intellectual Property
The Findr name, logo, and platform design are the property of Findr. You may not reproduce or use them without written permission. Case data submitted by users remains the responsibility of the submitting party; by submitting, you grant Findr a licence to display and distribute that information for the purposes described in these terms.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Findr is not liable for any outcomes arising from the use of this platform, including but not limited to the failure to locate a missing person, actions taken by third parties in response to published information, or data inaccuracies.
9. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any disputes arising from the use of Findr shall be subject to the jurisdiction of Nigerian courts.
10. Changes to These Terms
Findr may update these terms as the platform grows. Continued use of the platform after updates are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. We will notify users of significant changes via a notice on the platform.
